How to Read Something That's Been Scribbled Out
Ah, yes, my favorite technique of all-
scribbling
When yous hear the word scribble, you lot may retrieve of random swirls and lines that make upwardly some kind of abstract motion picture (which doesn't appear to be anything but nonsense)
However, when I hear the word scribble
I retrieve of this special technique I apply to come up with drawing ideas
Which besides helps get rid of art block
It's uncomplicated, you see
And once y'all larn this technique
You'll never want to forget it
At that place'southward only 3 simple steps
Just it may have some practice and time to learn
Pace 1
Make a scribble
It's exactly how it sounds. Just take out a piece of paper (or open up a cartoon program) and make a whole bunch of swirls and lines (make certain yous can be able to erase the scribble later). Don't over retrieve this role. You don't desire to endeavor and predetermine what you want to scribble, because it will only limit your drawing. Simply make a random scribble without any thought to what you want it to look like. This gives the best results, because you never know what shapes you lot'll observe in your scribble.
However, to make things even more interesting, you tin can ask someone else to make a scribble for you. Just tell them to lightly make swirls, lines, and/or scribbles randomly on a page. When they get-go scribbling, don't attempt and tell them what to scribble and how to scribble it (just let them scribble whatever on the folio). Sometimes you get barely whatever lines on the page, with only a few distinct shapes, but sometimes people will make so many scribbles that there seems to be too many shapes on the page. Both situations can still be used to brand a drawing, as we will see in the next step.
Step ii
Discover shapes in the scribble
This footstep is also pretty self-explainatory, but it does require practise to get skillful at. Some people are either really good at this step, and discover it piece of cake. All the same, some people find this footstep very difficult. Here, I volition show three different examples of scribbles. One has very few shapes, and they don't overlap much. One has a little more shapes, but they overlap a fleck. And the last one has multiple shapes that overlap frequently. I will show you how to find shapes in scribbles like these (do continue in mind, every scribble looks dissimilar, and these are only a few examples of possible scribbles
Sometimes, these kind of scribbles are hard because it may not seem like yous have enough shapes to make into a drawing. However, these scribbles are good if you desire to add your ain details and shapes (based off of what yous retrieve the scribble looks like). These scribbles are so unproblematic and vague, that it leaves a lot for your imagination to figure out. These types of scribbles may non exist the best for getting rid of art block when your imagination is stumped, simply are wonderful if you desire some 'wiggle room' when it comes to what you want your final drawing to look similar.
If yous have a hard time figuring out what these scribbles may await similar, terminate and think of these scribbles equally a silhouette of something, or an outline of something (don't focus on the empty spaces). Also, make certain to rotate and flip your scribble if you can (mirrors can flip a traditional scribbles). This helps you see the shapes in a unlike angle, which may aid you effigy out what kind of drawing yous want to become from the scribble. This tip applies for all scribbles, considering the bending you await at a scribble may determine what you meet in the scribble.
This is what I saw in this scribble, but y'all may accept seen something else (which is to be expected, because everyone sees dissimilar things). Since in that location were no shapes to really make upward the residuum of the face, I had to come up with my ain (wich is the office that requires imagination).
At present permit's look at a scribble with a few shapes that overlap a little bit. These types of scribbles often are easier to get a cartoon from, because they tend to requite you enough lines to come up with something, yet the lines don't complicate each other. However, I even so recommend rotating and flipping the scribble anyway, because you may come upwards with more than than 1 cartoon idea from the scribble.
Here'southward what I saw in the scribble later rotating it. Y'all probably saw something different, but that'southward actually a good thing. You want to draw what you see in the scribble, not what others see (and so if I told you that information technology looked like a person in a hood, don't try to find what I am seeing and and then depict that; you should draw what you find on your own, that way it doesn't experience forced)
Now we will wait at a scribble with several shapes that overlap frequently. This may be a difficult scribble for some to comprehend, merely if you suspension it downward, it is really a useful scribble for coming upwardly with drawing ideas. My biggest tip is don't await at the unabridged scribble as a whole. Wait at each shape made by the scribble, so attempt and meet how some of those shapes can connect with eachother (do not effort to use every shape in the scribble, because with these types of scribbles, there will be shapes yous'll accept to erase/get rid of in order to get the desired drawing).
If y'all're still stumped, and at that place'due south truly as well many lines for you to deal with, you lot can ever earase some random lines lightly (and then they are still there, but faintly) earlier you have a drawing in mind to help narrow downwardly which shapes you are focusing on. This may help simplify the scribble. Likewise, don't forget to rotate/flip the scribble. This tin help dramatically.
Step iii
Draw information technology
This stride is virtually like a no-brainer step. I already kind of went into this footstep as I was showing how to find shapes in step 2, and then I don't accept much to evidence for this footstep. Basically, whatever you see in the scribble is what you describe. You tin can practice this correct over the scribble (which is what I tend to do) or separately (side by side to scribble or on unlike folio) whichever yous adopt. The second option, which is separately, is more like you saw the scribble, had an idea, and was inspired to depict something based on that idea. The get-go option, which is straight over the scribble, is more like directly using the scribble to assist you make a drawing.
An example of a drawing I made using this scribble technique
In that location will be a separate post (web log) of my art including this example in a higher place (and will besides link this Wiki)
